Have you ever sang this song before?
"God is good,
He has done me well,
Oh my soul,
Rise up and praise the Lord!"
Or any song that hinges on the goodness or faithfulness of God? I am sure you have.
While in church earlier today, it dawned on me that these songs were much easier to relate with when you just got a promotion at work or bought a new car/house or just sealed a six-digit dollar deal or you just got your long awaited heart's desire; as compared to when you just lost a close friend, spouse, kid or family relative or when something you had longed or hoped for did not come through or you just got sacked at work?
Sincerely, take some time to reflect before you conclude... do you find this true?
I came to one conclusion: these songs hinge on God's attributes and only remind us about same. They were never about the state of our heart or life at its different points. This is simply because, the state of our lives change often but GOD does not change and we do not expect to change our song because the state of our life has changed. It brought me to one salient truth, 'whether in a good heart disposition or otherwise, God does not change and our song to Him should not either'.
Its a difficult one, I must admit but it is possible. Remember, "For with God, all things are possible".
Welcome to the world of my musings!
